Hemoglobin powder consists of spray-dried red blood cells from fresh mixed blood of food grade. To avoid coagulation sodium citrate is added to the blood at the slaughterhouses. Hemoglobin powder is freeze-dried hemoglobin for use in preparing microbiological culture media.
